چکیده

Abstract Soybean hulls (SBHs) are one of the main by-products soybean crushing, usually destined for animal feeding or to become a putrescible waste. In this work, we upgraded SBHs materials with antimicrobial properties. After extraction peroxidase from SBHs, an enzyme applicable in different technological sectors and naturally present hulls, exhausted biomass was subjected acid–base treatment isolate cellulose. The obtained material was, turn, functionalized 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane (APTES) achieve new hybrids synthetic procedure optimized by varying solvent type (ethanol toluene) APTES amount. Overall, amino-functionalization process effective activity outstanding against both gram-positive gram-negative bacteria, reaching complete disinfection practically all cases. samples were studied means several characterization techniques, demonstrating that cellulose types had significant influence on physical–chemical features, together eco-sustainability process. particular, use greener ethanol waste (with respect commercial one) resulted higher immobilization efficiency superior thermal stability final materials. Interestingly, presence various unremoved compounds lignocellulosic SBH matrix, although small quantities, emerged as crucial factor, also terms antibacterial activity, hypothesizing role residual phytochemicals.

Improving the Proton Conductivity and Antibacterial Properties of Sulfonated Polybenzimidazole/ZnO/Cellulose with Surface Functionalized Cellulose/ZnO Bionanocomposites

New bionanocomposite proton exchange membranes were prepared from sulfonated polybenzimidazole (s-PBI) and various amounts of sulfonated ZnO/cellulose nanohybrids (ZnO/cellulose-SO3H). The use of ZnO/cellulose-SO3H compensates for the decrease in ion exchange capacity of membranes observed when non-sulfonated nano-fillers are utilized. The strong –SO3H/–SO<su...

An anion exchange resin from soybean hulls

Agricultural by-products are generally poor adsorbents of anions in solution. Therefore, modification of the by-product could enhance its anion exchange capabilities. The objective of this study was to increase the anion exchange properties of the agricultural by-product, soybean hulls, by chemical modification. Soybean hulls were quaternized with the quaternizing agent, N-(3-chloro-2hydroxypro...

Synthesis and characterization of antibacterial polyurethane coatings from quaternary ammonium salts functionalized soybean oil based polyols.

In this study, a simple and versatile synthetic approach was developed to prepare bactericidal polyurethane coatings. For this purpose, introduction of both quaternary ammonium salts (QASs), with well-known antibacterial activity, and reactive hydroxyl groups on to the backbone of soybean oil was considered. Epoxidized soybean oil was reacted with diethylamine and the intermediate tertiary amin...

Properties of rice cooked with commercial water-soluble soybean polysaccharides extracted under weakly acidic conditions from soybean cotyledons.

It has been found that commercial water-soluble soybean polysaccharides (SSPS) can make cooked rice and noodles non-sticky and prevent rice grains and noodles from adhering to each other. We studied in detail the phenomenon of rice cooked with SSPS. We assumed that the phenomenon resulted from the interaction between SSPS and starch during cooking, and studied the effects of SSPS on the gelatin...
